Meet the BridgeMill Barracudas summer swim team
CANTON, Ga. — The BridgeMill Barracudas summer swim recreational league recently completed its 2023 summer season with 114 members. The age range for swimmers is 5-18 years old. Their team is a part of the Atlanta Swim Association, swimming from May to June with five swim meets. As of the time of this article, they are undefeated – winning their first three meets.
The team theme song is “Barracuda” by Heart, and they start each meet with their team chant of “Ooh, Barracudas Rock!!”
They celebrate after each meet with “Fun Friday” where they play games and get a sweet treat. Coach Laura also chooses one swimmer to receive the PBJ award on Friday, which is someone who has had their Personal Best Journey by listening well, working hard, and has a positive attitude. She also rewards them with a PB&J Uncrustable!
They have several swimmers also competing in the ASA Championship, as well as the District and State Meets. They also have many who swim year-round for the Pelicans, Stingrays, and Chattahoochee Gold. BridgeMill Barracudas Coordinator Val Treichler says, “Our organization is run off of some amazing parent volunteers.
The main goal of our team is to promote physical activity, gain an understanding of teamwork and commitment, as well as instill a love of swimming.”
