Ranking the top 10 Canadian MLB players of all time
8. George Selkirk, OF (1934-42)
Following in the footsteps of the Great Bambino was not easy. Selkirk had the honor of replacing Babe Ruth in the New York Yankees outfield. The 6-foot-1 Ontario-born outfielder did a fine job. He hit over .300 in five of his first six seasons. Selkirk would make two All-Star games in pinstripes.
George Selkirk was born OTD in 1908. Played just 9 years due to WW II, won 5 rings with the Yankees. From 1934-1939 was incredible hitting .303/.406/.500 with 130 OPS+. Took over for Babe Ruth in RF, one of the best players born in Canada. pic.twitter.com/1mdhEvlwMq
