Ranking each Big Ten football QB for the 2023 season
10. Athan Kaliakmanis, Minnesota
Tanner Morgan had been the leader of the Minnesota offense for several years, but it is finally Kaliakmanis’ time to shine in 2023 after serving as Morgan’s backup for the past two seasons. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound quarterback played well in that role last year, throwing for 946 yards and three scores as he made five starts and saw action in 11 games. Kaliakmanis’ most impressive game came late in the season at Wisconsin as he helped Minnesota retain Paul Bunyan’s Axe by throwing for 319 yards and two touchdowns. Consistency will be key for the four-star recruit out of Antioch, Illinois, but Kaliakmanis proved last year he is capable of a big game or two under center for Minnesota.
