Top 10 Louisiana HS football players in Class of 2024
5. Da’Shawn McBryde, S, Denham Springs
A physical presence in the defensive backfield, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound McBryde strikes fear into his opponents. Last season, the junior recorded 46 tackles, nine interceptions, nine pass breakups, four tackles for loss and four forced fumbles for a 10-3 Yellowjackets squad. This earned the safety first-team all-state honors from the LFCA.
Given his size and statistics at the position, it comes as no surprise that McBryde is considered one of the best prospects in the Creole State, being ranked as high as the No. 2 prospect in Louisiana by 247 Sports. By the time of his commitment, McBryde held 16 offers from programs such as Baylor, Florida, Ole Miss and Tennessee among others, but chose to stay in the bayou at LSU.
