TDs, taxpayers: Texas’ 5 most expensive HS football stadiums
No. 5 – Woodforest Bank Stadium
Cost: $49 million
Opened: 2008
Location: Shenandoah, Texas
Capacity: 10,000
Woodforest Bank Stadium features a scoreboard that allows for instant replays/digital graphics as well as facilities for radio, TV and video capture of events. Funding for the stadium came from 2004 bond money. At first, the sports complex was widely opposed by voters in Montgomery County because they preferred that their tax money go towards educational needs.
Not only did the stadium solve issues with games being overcrowded, but it is also bringing in revenue for the district in many ways. Back in 2017, Woodforest Bank renewed its naming rights deal with Conroe ISD for a 10-year contract worth about $1 million.
Woodforest Bank Stadium is home to the following football programs:
College Park (The Woodlands): 3-7 overall in 2022
Oak Ridge (Conroe): 7-4 overall in 2022
The Woodlands: 10-3 overall in 2022
Grand Oaks (Spring): 4-6 overall in 2022
Conroe: 6-5 overall in 2022
Caney Creek (Conroe): 1-9 overall in 2022
