TDs, taxpayers: Texas’ 5 most expensive HS football stadiums
No. 1 – Cy-Fair FCU Stadium
Cost: $80 million
Location: Cypress, TX
Opened: 2006
Capacity: 10,492
Cy-Fair FCU Stadium is the most expensive football stadium in Texas, but the $80 million figure includes the five facilities comprising the much larger Berry Center (arena, conference center, theater, athletic stadium and food distribution center). The Berry Center was funded by the 2001 Bond Referendum, which was approved by 85% of resident taxpayers.
The Berry Center’s revenue from rentals, catering and concessions for outside events within one year was $2.35 million. In 2016, Cy-Fair Federal Credit Union purchased naming rights to CFISD Stadium and so the school district is receiving $1.5 million dollars over 10 years.
Cy-Fair FCU Stadium is home to the following football programs:
Bridgeland (Cypress): 6-5 overall in 2022
Cypress Lakes (Katy): 2-8 overall in 2022
Cypress Park (Cypress): 0-10 overall in 2022
Cypress Ranch (Houston): 7-4 overall in 2022
Cypress Springs (Cypress): 4-6 overall in 2022
Cypress Woods (Cypress): 7-4 overall in 2022
Langham Creek (Houston): 5-5 overall in 2022
