NAIA football player Chaz ‘Cheezeburger’ Brown gaining fans

WINFIELD, Kansas (BVM) – Without ever playing a snap at the college level, Chaz Brown has already taken the Internet by storm. The 5-foot-10, 310-pound defensive tackle, affectionately known by his teammates as “Cheezeburger,” is a freshman for the NAIA Southwestern College Moundbuilders and has gained notoriety for his play during team practices.

As a team-building activity, the Moundbuilders coaches put offensive players against defensive players with the losing team having extra conditioning. For the first day, Brown went up against an offensive lineman in a one-on-one matchup as the wide receiver. Not only did Brown beat the defender off the line, but also made a tremendous diving catch to secure the defense’s victory.

While Brown may be known as the athletic lineman making catches for his NAIA team, he is actually a pretty solid defensive tackle on the gridiron. Brown was a three-year starter for his Sherman High School football program in Sherman, Texas. As a senior last fall, Brown earned all-district honorable mention honors, showing his strong play on the field.

Though stats from his time with the Bearcats can’t be found, Brown’s film shows a surprisingly nimble player for a man of his size. Among highlights include multiple forced fumbles, a sack and many examples of Brown pushing guards easily into the backfield.
