Emporia State Cross Country opens their 2023 season at the JK Gold Classic hosted by Wichita State. The team will be competing in both the men’s 6K and women’s 5K races. The MIAA Preseason Coaches Polls have been released, with the Emporia State men picked eighth and the women picked tenth in the association. Head Coach Dr. Mark Stanbrough is in his sixth year with the team and has had success coaching both cross country and track and field. The Hornets have a strong group of runners, with Tayler Williams and Tyler Swift leading the way for the women and men, respectively. Up next, Emporia State will compete in the Southern Stampede in Joplin, Missouri on September 15th.
