Johnson paces Herons in season opener

HOUGHTON, N.Y.—The William Smith College cross country team opened the season in the Houghton Highlander Short Course Invitational this evening. Sophomore Hope Johnson led the Herons on the 3-kilometer, placing 24th out of 109 runners. Johnson, who missed all but three races last season due to illness, crossed the finish line in 11:37.02. Junior Abigail Cole was the second William Smith finisher, stopping the clock at 12:20.17 to place 55th.
