Vanderbilt Commodores secure a 1-0 win over Kansas State in a thrilling match. Although the Wildcats had a promising attempt early on, it was the Commodores who found the breakthrough in the 67th minute. Courtney Jones played a key role in setting up Rachel Deresky, who then passed the ball to Amber Nguyen. Unfortunately, Nguyen was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty that Hannah McLaughlin converted. Vanderbilt dominated possession and spent much of the match in the attacking half. Coach Ambrose showed confidence in his team by using limited substitutes. The Commodores face a tough challenge against the Northwestern Wildcats, who have been strong this season.
