7. Eddie Phillips (1969-71)

Phillips played behind James Street in 1969, was part of a national championship team and took over as the starter in 1970, leading Texas to a 10-1 season and its second consecutive national title. However, Phillips and Texas finished 8-3 the following season but finished as the No. 18-ranked team in the nation.
