XC Standout Elyas Ayyoub Earns Second Straight NEC Athlete of Week Honor

And, for two weeks, LIU runner Elyas Ayyoub has claimed the honor. Ayyoub earned the distinction for a second straight week on Wednesday after winning his first-ever collegiate cross country meet — the Sharks-hosted LIU Fall Festival this past Saturday. A junior biology major from Cape Town, South Africa, Ayyoub won the 8K event with a time of 25:24.96 — nearly eight full seconds ahead of runner-up Samuel Whittaker of Central Connecticut State.
