Deion Sanders gifts Buffs sunglasses after Jay Norvell diss
BOULDER, Colo. (BVM) – Deion Sanders and his Colorado football squad have kept a long memory of things said about their team heading into the year. While the most recent dig against them came just a few days ago from Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell, the Buffaloes showed they aren’t backing away from the recent diss ahead of their in-state rivalry game.
“I don’t care if they hear this in Boulder,” Norvell said in his radio hit about Sanders’ press conference attire. “I told them [ESPN] — I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off. I said, ‘When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.'”

Sanders’ recent look, which features a Colorado hat and his signature sunglasses, provided the perfect chance for the Buffaloes’ head coach to lean into the coach’s jab. On Friday, Sanders gave his team the chance to pull off the look that was recently criticized, by gifting each player a pair of the sunglasses.

The fashion movement could be just the start for the Buffaloes’ upcoming matchup, as fans attending the game have been urged to match the attire when they attend Folsom Field.

The recent comments from the Rams’ coach only add to some of the recent “receipts” that Sanders has acknowledged since Week 1 after quarterback Shedeur Sanders mentioned some disrespect he felt from Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule a week ago.
“I’m minding my own business watching some film, trying to get ready, trying to get out here and be the best coach that I could be, and I look up and I read some bull junk that they had said about us, once again,” Sanders told the team. “Why would you want to talk about us when we don’t talk about nobody? All we do is go out here, work our butts off and do our job on Saturday. But when they give us ammunition, they done messed around and made it [personal].”
Colorado enters the rivalry game as the No. 18 team in the nation and will look to continue its perfect start to the 2023 campaign.
