Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown animated exchange to be kept ‘private’

PHILADELPHIA (BVM) — The Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings squared off on Thursday Night Football and during the contest, television cameras caught stars A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts in the midst of a heated discussion.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stepped in and calmed things down and Hurts targeted Brown three times the following series and had a 25-yard touchdown pass taken away due to a Rashaad Penny holding call.

The Eagles walked away with a 34-28 victory, but Brown left the stadium without talking to reporters and Siriani was asked about what was said on the sideline.

“The conversations we have on the field are going to be private,” Sirianni said in a press conference. “And the conversations we have in our locker room are going to be private. Ya’ll don’t need to know what was going on right there.”

Brown had 1,496 receiving yards last year (Eagles’ single-season record) and 11 TD catches, but two games into the 2023 season, he has just 11 catches for 108 yards and zero TDs and the slow start looks to be frustrating the All-Pro wide receiver. But Brown still has the respect of his teammates and they know he wants to help them win.

“I think everybody wants to make plays and everybody wants to contribute,” Hurts said to ESPN’s Tim McManus. “I have no worry about him. He’s a great player, a great teammate, a great friend, and we’ll do anything and everything to win.”

Philadelphia is off to a 2-0 start despite the incident and Brown, who has been a significant contributor to the offense since his arrival, still figures to be a go-to target for Hurts this season. However, expectations will continue to be high across the board for the Eagles, who are aiming to reach their second consecutive Super Bowl.

“We all have very high expectations,” Eagles center Jason Kelce told McManus. “We know that we’re really good and we know that we should be playing better than we are, so those discussions are going to happen and the frustration is going to happen.”
