Bismarck golfer Cooper Carpenter having fun all the way to championships
BISMARCK, Ill. — “We’ve told him all year to just go out there and have fun.” That’s the advice Cooper Carpenter received from his parents, Brian and Aubrey Carpenter of rural Bismarck.

While working at his first job at Turtle Run Golf Club, Cooper was able to hone his golfing skills by playing with his co-workers, as well as increase his love of the game. “He has basically lived at the course this year,” Aubrey says.
All that good living has paid off, as Cooper met his goal of medaling at conference, as well as leading his team to a first place victory. Cooper also recently placed 2nd at Regionals, advancing to Sectionals, as well as named the News-Gazette Athlete of the Week.

Coop, as he is called, is a kid that others look up to. He is asked for advice, and is enjoyable to watch on the course. Even opposing players he is paired with always seem to end up chatting between swings.
Coop is more than just a stellar athlete. His mom comments on his intangibles, “I’m so grateful that he plays with integrity, humility, and respect. He respects the game, the course, and the players and that is evident in his demeanor on the course.”

Cooper certainly is following his parents’ early advice, and is ending up with one really great season.
