Travis Hunter, Henry Blackburn become friends after viral hit
BOULDER, Colo. (BVM) – Football is a dangerous game that results in many injuries, so when a hit happens that is not necessary, it will create a huge uproar. This is exactly what happened on Sept. 16 in the Colorado vs. Colorado State game.
Colorado State defensive back Henry Blackburn hit Buffaloes star Travis Hunter in what many deemed to be a dirty hit. The play ultimately resulted in a lacerated liver for the two-way star, forcing him to miss time.

Fans took their anger towards Blackburn and his family, even going as far as sending death threats.
Hunter, however, reached out to the Rams player with a completely different mindset.
The two college football players got together for a video to put on Hunter’s YouTube channel, discussing the positive impact that this has provided.

“I feel like if that didn’t happen, we wouldn’t be here right now,” Hunter said in the video. “So, it’s a blessing that that happened. Now, we can show people the other side of football. Football is just a game at the end of the day. We’re the people that play it. We’re going to get hurt eventually.”
Blackburn also addressed the aftermath of the hit and how it not only affected him, but his loved ones as well.
“I can take it,” Blackburn said. “I’m not worried about me. I’m not tripping about me. I got two little sisters in elementary school. That’s mainly what I was worried about, their safety. I appreciate you coming out and saying, ‘It’s football.’ Because that helped things calm down.”
Blackburn’s family resides in Boulder, Colorado, where the University of Colorado is, making the death threats that they received even more concerning.
Hunter’s reaction to everything has made life much easier for the senior safety.
This could even be the beginning of a budding friendship as the two went bowling together in the video as well.
