For the first time in school history, the Winona girls soccer team is the Big 9 Conference champion. The Winhawks played to a 1-1 draw with Rochester Century at Paul Giel Field on Saturday, giving Winona enough points to mathematically clinch the title with one week of games to go. Century (6-4-3 overall, 5-1-2 conference) scored first, just 10 minutes into the game, but the Winhawks (12-1-1, 9-0-1) tied it up as senior Faith Quinn hit a penalty kick in the 24th minute, and neither team scored in the second half.
