Ranking the top 10 Indianapolis Colts rushers of all time

10. Don McCauley, 1971-81

Drafted 22nd overall in the 1971 NFL Draft out of North Carolina, McCauley manned the Colts’ backfield for over a decade, partially sharing the role with legends Tom Matte and Lydell Mitchell. McCauley played his entire career with Baltimore and still holds the franchise record for most games played at the position with 156.

With 40 career touchdowns, McCauley remains tied for fifth in Colts’ history for franchise rushers and 15th in career yards with 2,627. He played other roles for the team, catching 30 or more passes in seven of his 11 seasons and returning 43 kickoffs for 967 yards and a touchdown.
