Field Hockey Edged By Generals in Overtime Thriller

The Virginia Wesleyan University field hockey team (6-8, 2-3 ODAC) was edged by Washington & Lee 2-1 in overtime. The Generals scored in the seventh minute of play to lead 1-0. The Marlins defense tightened up and only allowed five shots on the first half. Virginia Wesleyan managed four shots in the first half and four penalty corners that put pressure on the W&L defense. The second half was very competitive with each team getting goal-scoring opportunities.
