5. Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish
The Boston Celtics’ first big three came together thanks to Red Auerbach, who traded two first-round picks to Golden State for Parish and used another to acquire McHale. The trio played together until Bird’s retirement in 1992 and they had a successful run, reaching five NBA Finals, winning three and igniting the rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers.
