Field hockey falls just short against American in Patriot League finale

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to American in its final Patriot League game of the regular season, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Jacobs Complex. The game remained scoreless through the first half, with American (8-7, 5-0 PL) outshooting the Crusaders (6-8, 2-4 PL) 10-0, drawing just one penalty corner opportunity. American broke the scoreless tie at the 8:04 mark of the third quarter. The lead held until the beginning of the fourth quarter when the Crusaders drew their first corner opportunity of the matchup.
