Women’s Soccer Blanks Delaware State; Season Concludes Thursday at Home

By: Adam Rubin DOVER, Del. — The LIU women’s soccer team took care of business on Sunday, defeating host Delaware State, 2-0, behind goals from Izzy Stein and Gina Proviano. Unfortunately for the Sharks, they nonetheless were eliminated from postseason contention. LIU (7-7-2, 3-5-1 NEC) will conclude its season on Thursday at 3 p.m. against Merrimack at LIU Soccer Park. On Sunday, center back Caroline Nuttall anchored a defense that produced its fourth shutout win and sixth shutout of the season. Aliya Couillard assisted Stein’s goal, while Stein assisted Proviano’s goal.
