Men’s rowing’s first varsity eight places 12th at Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Bates men’s rowing team’s first varsity eight placed 12th out of 42 crews in the collegiate eights race, pacing the Bobcats Sunday at the Head of the Charles Regatta. Led by first-year coxswain Darien Chiang (Quincy, Mass.) and sophomore stroke George Fauver (Bedford, N.Y.), the 1V navigated the serpentine 4,800-meter course on the Charles River in 15:54.667. The Bobcats finished fifth among NESCAC schools as Tufts won the race in 15:25.428. Meanwhile, the second varsity eight finished in 34th place in the collegiate eights race with a time of 16:47.961.
