Planella picks up PSAC weekly honor

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP field hockey junior goalie Anita Planella was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. The announcement comes just prior to IUP opening postseason play in the 2023 PSAC Quarterfinals against Kutztown. The Santiago, Chile native matched a season-high eight saves in the team’s regular season finale at East Stroudsburg. Tuesday’s award marks the second weekly honor for Planella, previously winning PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on September 19.
