SUNY New Paltz field hockey team suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to SUNY Cortland in the 2023 SUNYAC Championship. The Hawks outshot the Red Dragons and earned more corners, but couldn’t convert their chances. Hannah Ackerman scored the only goal for New Paltz, while Angelina Regels and Miranda Britton put in impressive performances. Despite the loss, the Hawks, with a 14-5 overall record, still have a chance for an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. Ackerman, Meghan Gunning, and Amanda Quenneville were named to the All-Tournament team.
