Football’s Russell named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week
FOREST, Va. — Averett University football fifth-year defensive end Jahlin Russell was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday following a stellar performance in the Cougars’ 34-13 road win over Guilford College. Russell, a native of Richmond, Virginia, led the Cougars with nine tackles (six solo) that featured 4.0 for a loss. Those stops behind the line of scrimmage included 3.0 quarterback sacks with one as a strip-sack (fumble recovered by Guiford).
