Section 2 Class AA and A football teams in New York have received at-large bids to the NYSPHSAA tournament this year, marking the first time since its installment in 2023. The at-large bid was introduced to eliminate teams getting a bye straight to the state semifinals and to fill out a minimum eight-team bracket for the two largest classifications. Both the Section 2 champion and the runner-up in the AA and A divisions will advance to the state tournament. The smaller-school classifications, Class B, C, and D, do not have an at-large bid.
