Centerville boys soccer welcomes back key seniors

DAYTON, Ohio — The Centerville High School (CHS) boys’ soccer program celebrated its 50th season this year. Since 1973, the program has accumulated 720 wins going into the 2023 season, making it the winningest program in the state of Ohio.

The 2023 season saw 11 returning varsity players from the 2022 team, which won 17 games and lost in the regional semifinals. Luke Shriver is back for his final year: his fourth as the starting goalkeeper and second as a team captain. Luke has had an unbelievable career at CHS, recording 23 shutouts going into his senior season, as well as winning three district titles and three league titles. Also returning this year is Indiana University commit Drew Gaydosh. Josh Cline, a senior defender, has also returned, to secure the back line. All three bring a ton of experience to the defense; they all were key players in 2021, when the team lost in overtime in the state finals.

The rest of the team is made up of rising young talent looking to make a name for themselves and learn, as the team strives to continue the tradition of excellence that is CHS boys’ soccer.
