8th Annual Golf for Cops Pro-Am returns to Jupiter
JUPITER, Fla. — In the Summer of 2016, five police officers were brutally executed in Dallas, Texas. As I sat in my truck listening to the radio commentary, it hit me like a ton of bricks. In that moment, I made the decision to throw my time and resources behind our men and women in blue. Through in-depth research, I discovered that there were very few charities that support fallen law enforcement families, and the money raised was very small in comparison to other notable charities.
This was the birth of Golf for COPS.

We discovered a national charity that hosted a kid’s and teen’s camp for the children of fallen law enforcement officers and supported those efforts wholeheartedly. As our charity grew and after speaking to many more survivors, we saw a need to support higher education within these same shattered lives.
“Golf for COPS has a direct impact on families in need. Through the game of golf, Jim and Maria McDavid and their charity have found a way to directly impact those who have gone through the worst tragedy you can go through,” said Ryan Armor, PGA TOUR player.
The McDavid Group Charities supports the educational goals of children and spouses of fallen law enforcement officers. We commit to providing them with financial support and counseling to help them survive and thrive while raising awareness about the men and women who died in the line of duty.

“You hear the stories of fathers, mothers, and brothers putting their lives on the line for us. It puts things into perspective. I’m proud to be a part of it,” said Denny McCarthy, PGA TOUR player.
In 2022 we partnered with the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties to start a scholarship fund. “The American Heroes Scholarship Fund” will fund scholarships for fallen officer families nationwide. We have big plans to make sure no child of a fallen officer ever has to worry about the financial burden of higher education. Their family has already paid the ultimate sacrifice.
“As we continue to grow, we want to do more, we want to help more, we want to give more, we want to invest in these kids’ lives, we want to invest in their futures,” said Tanya Barrett, Executive Director and Surviving Spouse of Virginia State Trooper, Mark D. Barrett.

Golf for Cops hosted by The McDavid Group Charities is our end-of-the-year signature event and fundraiser. And one of the best golfing events in Jupiter. We host many notable celebrities and professional golfers on two courses: Trump National Golf Club Jupiter and Trump International Golf Club, West Palm Beach.
The charity goes to great lengths to entertain you on golf day with Dan Boever and his trick shots, Kelley James Music and roasting raps, magicians, World Long Drive guys that we have affectionately nicknamed “The Golf for COPS Bomb Squad”, ending our day with a much-anticipated long drive competition. The gala the night before is an event to behold with our honorary chairman, Eric Trump.

“These are men and women who put their lives on the line for us,” said Eddie Fernandes, World Long Drive Champion.
“I will always play in this event; it goes above and beyond out here.” Jaye Marie Green, LPGA
“You want to be associated with an event like this and be part of it.” Eric Cole, PGA TOUR player
In 2022, there were 247 officers who died in the line of duty. That is 247 families too many.
“There are not a lot of charities that put money to the families of fallen police officers and we are here to help them have a much better future and an easier path. This whole thing is about impact. It is about us having an impact on these families’ lives.” Jim McDavid, Founder
