Key points:

  • Huntington Beach defeated Mira Costa 13-7 in the CIF-SS Division 1 boys water polo semifinal.

  • Huntington Beach will advance to the championship match at Mt. San Antonio College.
The Mira Costa boys’ water polo team suffered a 13-7 defeat to Huntington Beach in the CIF-SS Division 1 semifinals. Although the Mustangs launched a late rally, scoring four consecutive goals, it was not enough to overcome Huntington Beach’s eight-goal lead. Maddox McEwen contributed five goals for Mira Costa, but ultimately, Huntington Beach’s depth and strong performance were too much to handle. The Oilers will face Laguna Beach in the championship match, hoping to clinch the title after previous losses in 2016 and 2019.
