West Virginia State women’s soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to the nationally-ranked No. 5 Charleston in the semifinals of the Mountain East Conference Tournament. In a tense match that went into overtime, West Virginia State’s goalkeeper Laura Galindo put in an impressive performance, making multiple saves to keep Charleston off the scoreboard. However, Charleston managed to secure the win with a goal in the 94th minute. Despite the loss, West Virginia State can be proud of their season and the progress they made under first-year Head Coach Brandon Slewa.
