Wayzata moves on in state volleyball, Edina and Tonka in consolation play
Wayzata High’s girls volleyball team has a state semifinal match against Anoka Thursday, Nov. 9, at Xcel Energy Center. The Trojans swept Edina 25-17, 25-17, 25-16 in the first round Nov. 8. Wayzata’s dominance at the net was the biggest factor. Senior hitter Olivia Swenson led the way with 13 kills and her twin sister Stella had five kills and 32 assists in a typical performance. Junior Reilly Kurth chipped in with seven kills while libero Bianca Nestor sparked the Trojans with 11 digs. With the win, top-seeded Wayzata improves to 31-0.
