Nieto Named SLC Defensive Player of the Week

SAN ANTONIO- The Southland Conference named defensive specialist, Mariela Nieto, the defensive player of the week on Monday, November 13. This award is the first for the University of the Incarnate Word senior. After a stellar, 2-0 week, Nieto helped her team clinch the sixth spot in the Southland Conference tournament. In Thursday night’s five-set win against Texas A&M- Commerce, the senior had a team-high 25 digs. Against Northwestern State on Saturday, she picked up 17 digs.
