St. Thomas Academy defeats Alexandria with 42 unanswered points in Class 5A semifinal

MINNEAPOLIS — The St. Thomas Academy Cadets (10-2) defeated Alexandria Cardinals (11-1) 42-30 in the MSHSL football semifinals on Friday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Alexandria started the game with 23 unanswered points. Alexandria quarterback Chase Thompson diced the St. Thomas Academy defense with two touchdown passes and 108 passing yards in the first quarter. Alexandria started the second quarter with a touchdown rush and a field goal and a 23-0 lead, but St. Thomas Academy scored two touchdowns just before halftime for a 23-14 lead.
