Tom Allen fired; 5 Indiana football head coach candidates
1. Justin Frye
Frye is likely to be a Division I head coach sooner than later and there’s a chance it could be at his alma mater. The 40-year-old was an offensive lineman for the Hoosiers from 2002-06 and got his coaching start as a grad assistant in Bloomington shortly after his playing career. After a few stops that included becoming an offensive coordinator at UCLA, Frye joined Ryan Day’s staff at Ohio State in 2022 as offensive line coach and associate head coach. An Indiana alum might be what the Hoosiers need to spark the program, and although he lacks head-coaching experience, Frye’s time with one of the Big Ten’s top programs likely has him ready for this position.
