Jonathan Smith to MSU; 5 Oregon State head coach candidates
5. Brent Brennan
Brennan is one of a few guys on this list who has been around football out West for the majority of his life. That could prove beneficial when it comes to recruiting close to home for Oregon State should the program give the 50-year-old a look. A former wideout at UCLA, Brennan was the Beavers’ wide receivers coach from 2011-16. Prior to that he was an offensive assistant at San Jose State and returned to the Spartans in 2017 as head coach. Brennan’s 34-47 record at San Jose State doesn’t stand out but he has helped the Spartans to three conference titles, and seven-win seasons in three of the last four years. There certainly could be mutual interest in a reunion in Corvallis between Brennan and the Beavers.
