Norfolk Academy field hockey player Lizzie Adams excels on and off the field
NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Academy (NA) senior Lizzie Adams excels in the classroom, on the athletics fields and in the community.
For combining those three attributes so well, Adams was recognized in mid-October as WTKR-TV’s Student-Athlete of the Week.
In the fall, Adams was a captain and key contributor for NA’s nationally ranked field hockey team. She has also played varsity basketball in the winter and varsity soccer in the spring.
Virginia Beach resident Adams is much more than a stellar athlete. She’s a strong student who was recently named a National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Student; such students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. She plans to attend Columbia University. She also enjoys volunteering her time to serve the greater community. Adams is part of NA’s Batten Leadership Program, which works to find solutions to real-world problems. As a member of the program’s Global Affairs Fellows, she helps Dos Santos, a food pantry that serves immigrant and farm worker communities on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
“It’s important to be a part of something much bigger than yourself,” Adams said in the WTKR segment.
