DAYTON, Ohio — The 2023 Centerville High School football team knew this season was going to be physically tough. We intentionally scheduled difficult out-of-conference games, to get us ready for a grueling GWOC (Greater Western Ohio Conference) schedule.

Our 2023 seniors worked tirelessly all winter/spring, to put themselves in a good position going into the summer. Once summer hit, they didn’t miss a beat. They competed hard in the weight room, on the field, in tournaments and in scrimmages, to get ready for this season. They adopted and embody our core values of Humility, Effort, Attitude, Team and Tradition (HEATT). They did a phenomenal job and are forever immortalized as GWOC champions.

Winning the conference was the result of great people working together and working hard. We have phenomenal coaches leading our young men. They are supportive, smart and great role models for our players, as well as myself. We also have phenomenal young men who pour into each other every day, genuinely caring about one another and the future of our program. They challenge us to be at our best every day; and they do so by being at their best every day.

Being a part of such a fine group of men is my favorite part of this job. It’s not really a job. It’s something I look forward to doing every day. It’s something that I don’t mind staying extra hours or getting little sleep for. It has been awesome to watch this team continue to grow, come together and succeed together.

What makes Centerville football special is the people. In and around our program are some really great people. Our administrators, teachers, youth program, custodians and support staff all make Centerville a great place to live, work, raise a family and play football.
