Newman’s late turnovers hurt in loss at Madison Prep
Madison Prep forced four turnovers with time running down, and the Chargers went on to hold off Newman 52-43 at Madison Prep on Thursday night. The Chargers led 43-39 with five minutes left when they turned up the defensive pressure. Fueled by four turnovers, Madison Prep (3-1) went on a 9-0 run to put the game away. The Greenies didn’t score again until Chris Cenac’s putback basket with 22 seconds left. Newman (4-3) led 23-21 at halftime.
