St. Charles got stopped on fourth-and-1 near midfield with 44 seconds to play, leaving Calvary Baptist enough time to score the winning touchdown — defeating the Comets 34-28 in the Division III select state championship Saturday at the Caesars Superdome. Calvary junior Kolby Thomas caught a 20-yard pass in the end zone and then had a two-point conversion reception with 18 seconds remaining.
