Football’s Eric O’Neill Earns Multiple All-America Honors

By: Adam Rubin BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Eric O’Neill’s stellar season with the LIU football team has landed the defensive lineman multiple All-America honors. O’Neill was named an FCS third-team All-American by the Associated Press and a second-team All-American by FCS Football Central. O’Neill, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive end from Staten Island, also was the Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a first-team all-conference selection. He was a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award as the FCS defensive player of the year. O’Neill ranked second on the Sharks with 80 tackles and led the team with 5½ sacks.
