Ranking 10 early favorites to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy
10. Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri
A wide receiver winning the Heisman Trophy is rare but has happened as recently as 2020 when DeVonta Smith took home the award. Marvin Harrison Jr. was also invited to the Heisman ceremony in 2023, and it could be Burden III’s time to put his name amongst those stars. Burden III showed flashes of brilliance as a true freshman in 2022 but was even better in his second year at Missouri, catching 83 passes for 1,197 yards and eight touchdowns during the regular season for a surprise Tigers team that went 10-2. If Brady Cook is back to throw him the ball in 2024, the 5-foot-11 wideout may be in line for a historic season, one that could lead him to become just the fourth wide receiver to win the Heisman.
