SIUE’s Diekema Named First Team Academic All-America

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women’s soccer standout Matea Diekema has been selected to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America first team. Diekema was one of four defenders on the first team and was joined by Texas Tech’s Hannah Anderson, Georgetown’s Julia Leas and Stanford’s Kenedy Wesley. Also selected as a Scholar All-American by the United Soccer Coaches, the Grand Rapids, Michigan, native has earned several awards during the 2023 postseason.
