5. Texas Longhorns

Texas continues to look sharp in 2023-24 coming off of an Elite Eight appearance as Rodney Terry took over for Chris Beard last season. Perhaps the one knock on the Longhorns thus far would be a lack of signature wins. They also got blown out in their two games against top-10 opponents when they played UConn and Marquette. Texas has a lot of transfer players who still need to figure out how to execute together, but the Longhorns should find their way toward the top half of the Big 12 standings by March. Max Abmas is the top transfer Texas brought in and averages nearly 18 points while big man Kadin Shedrick has also been solid. Dylan Disu’s recent return from injury will help this team immensely and Tyrese Hunter and Dillon Mitchell are also capable of putting up big numbers.
