Ranking each Big 12 basketball team entering conference play
1. Kansas Jayhawks
With 21 Big 12 regular season titles and 18 since 2002, it’s hard to argue against Kansas being the favorite to win the league again this season, even with some added competition to the conference. Bill Self simply knows how to dominate in this league and has a squad that should do so again while likely contending for a national championship by the time all is said and done. The Jayhawks have just one loss on the year to a top-five Marquette team and have picked up nice wins over Kentucky and UConn. Landing Hunter Dickinson in the transfer portal was a big win for Self and has paid off thus far as he is averaging 19.2 points and 12.7 rebounds. Veteran wing Kevin McCullar Jr. is also averaging 19.2 points, and with KJ Adams Jr., Dajuan Harris Jr. and freshman Elmarko Jackson, Kansas has as much talent as anyone in the Big 12.
