Gilmer to Hoover
By John Goolsby, Prep Sports Editor TRUSSVILLE – The Trussville Tribune has learned that Clay-Chalkville’s Drew Gilmer will become the next Hoover High football coach. An official announcement has not been made. Multiple sources have confirmed that the two-time state championship coach will leave after eight years. Gilmer, the 2023 6A coach of the year, compiled an 81-12 record while leading the Cougars to the 2021 and 2023 6A state championships. Wade Waldrop departed Hoover earlier this month after a 16-9 record the past two seasons. Hoover has won 13 state championships and 542 games in 61 seasons. The Tribune…
