Meet La Habra football player Kenny Saucedo
LA HABRA, Calif. — Kenny Saucedo is a junior at La Habra High School. He has played football for twelve years and currently plays quarterback for La Habra High School Varsity Football.

“Everything about Football is amazing, but I most love the relationships and bonds that come from your teammates. As a team, we spend so much time together and it feels as if you have a second family.”
“Being a member of a team has taught me that everyone must have the same mentality and work ethic to succeed. Being part of a team has also taught me how to be a leader and person that can be looked to for guidance.”
The best piece of advice I have been given as an athlete is that if you are going to do something, put all your effort and energy into what you are doing. This advice has not only helped me in my athletics, but in academics as well. “My biggest challenge with sports is managing my time with academics. With late practices, it was often a challenge to complete assignments, but I overcame this by making sure to get most work done in class to limit my homework, along with getting plenty of sleep.” By doing this, I completed all of my assignments on time.

During the season I physically practice about 8-10 hours a week and while playing Quarterback I also must watch hours of film analyzing our opponent. “A pregame ritual I have is to come home before the games and relax in my room for an hour. In that time, I clear my head from all other distractions and focus on the game.” I stay motivated when things are tough through my faith in God. I understand that I will be put through trials and tribulations that will be tough, but I trust the path that God has for me.
“I believe that my determination and will to win make me a great athlete. I hate to lose in anything and will work my absolute hardest to win. My love for competition and the game of football is what makes me a great athlete.” Throughout the season I made some mistakes, but I would move forward and learn from those mistakes rather than dwelling on them. As a Quarterback, I can’t dwell on mistakes, I must have short-term memory and take each play one at a time. “I am most proud of being able to get better each and every day of the season. All year long our coaches would say, “Give above-the-line effort,” which meant putting all your effort into the task at hand. I am proud to say that I would always push myself to get better and give that “above-the-line effort.”

My definition of success is achieving goals that one has set for oneself; these goals should take hard work and dedication to attain, which makes the end result more rewarding. A personal goal I have is to win a CIF Championship in my last high school season and to continue playing football at the next level in college.”
People would be surprised to know that I love to snowboard. My older brother really got into snowboarding over the last couple of years and now it is one of my favorite hobbies. My favorite NFL team has always been the Green Bay Packers. Being a Quarterback, I fell in love with the Packers because of Aaron Rodgers. But my biggest role model is my father, he has instilled great values in me and demonstrated what a successful good man looks like.
