Meet Durango football player Jaxon Fancher
DURANGO, Colo. — Jaxon Fancher is a multi-sport athlete in his senior year at Durango High School. As a talented track athlete and running back for the Demons, he has gained plenty of fun memories with his teammates and life lessons he values as a young man.
He began playing football as a sixth grader and started track when he entered middle school. Jaxon shares that he values the connection he has with his dad, a fellow athlete who played college football for the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Sharing memories and watching college and NFL games on TV together inspired Jaxon to start playing football as a kid. Running track also became a natural sport for him, and he has excelled in his track career.
Challenging himself in the classroom with advanced placement classes in high school, Jaxon has put in the work to keep up with homework and late practices. The bonds with his teammates and having fun on and off the field together make it all worth it. No matter how a game or meet has ended, Jaxon values his friends and senior teammates who give it their all and always have each other’s back. “There’s nothing that can replicate that,” shares Jaxon.
Giving credit to his experiences playing sports over the years, Jaxon knows they have helped him expand his goals and reach new levels. He has learned to be dedicated and benefit from the mentorship he has received to navigate everyday life situations off the field or track. He is confident that he will achieve more personally by having sports as part of his life.
Jaxon says, “Being an athlete has definitely taught me to apply myself to my sport and become a better man in life. I’m grateful to sports for that and to all of my coaches, tutors, and parents for always supporting me.”
