Alan Bowman gets 7th year; Top QBs from his recruiting class

STILLWATER, Okla. (BVM) – Oklahoma State redshirt senior quarterback Alan Bowman was granted one more year of eligibility, allowing him to play in his seventh collegiate season next fall. Bowman, who turns 24 in March, is well-traveled in the college landscape having started his career back in 2018 at Texas Tech under then head coach Kliff Kingsbury before transferring to Michigan for the 2021 and 2022 seasons before landing on the Cowboys last year.

Bowman has had some impressive accomplishments over the years, including being the only active FBS quarterback to throw for 600 yards in a game when he threw for 605 against Houston when he was still at Texas Tech in 2018. While Bowman is not alone as a seventh-year college football player, with the trend becoming more common due to the extra year of eligibility the NCAA granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is still quite a rarity.

While Bowman has been able to play in 40 games over six seasons, throwing for over 8,000 yards and nearly 50 touchdowns, he isn’t as accomplished as some of the other quarterbacks from the Class of 2018. Many of the other signal callers have gone on to the professional level or have started their lives outside of football. Here are the top 10 quarterbacks from the 2018 recruiting class and where they are today.
