Top 10 CFB national championship game performances of all time
9. Peerless Price, Tennessee, 1999 Fiesta Bowl
The guy in the No. 37 orange jersey wasn’t a heartwarming sight for Florida State defenders.
Peerless Price was the gamebreaker in the 1999 Fiesta Bowl, as his 79-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown catch helped push Tennessee past Florida State. He had a 76-yard grab a few quarters prior and finished with four receptions for 199 yards.
The Volunteers’ 23-16 win gave the program its second national crown, the first having come 48 years earlier.
